HVAC Schools, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning prepare students for a career in this fast pace and technologically changing field. Heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems consist of many mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, such as motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches. In central heating systems, for example, a furnace heats air that is distributed throughout the building via a system of metal or fiberglass ducts. Technicians must be able to maintain, diagnose, and correct problems throughout the entire system. To do this, they adjust system controls to recommended settings and test the performance of the entire system using special tools and test equipment. These schools and training programs prepare students for a career in this industry. The schools featured here normally offer some type of financing or financial aid. Many of the schools will also provide job placement and some have externship programs where students work in real world situations while learning their trade. Since each school teaches differently and may offer different amounts of financial aid it is strongly suggested that prospective students request information from several schools. This allows the student to shop for the best program for their learning needs and objectives.
