High Performance Schools provide students with the knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment as a repair technician in a modern performance shop and pit crew positions on the racing circuits. Training is done with a combination of laboratory and classroom training using modern test equipment and specialized tools and gain hands-on experience in a realistic shop setting. Normally students will also learn traditional automotive technology skills such as line maintenance, trouble shooting, remove and replace mechanical and electrical components, and rebuilding of mechanical components. Most schools prepare students to earn an ASE certification. Most schools will have some type of financial aid in the form of financing, grants, student loans, or scholarships. Some may have job placement. Not all of these schools offer the same training programs, emphasis, or amount of hands on training. It is recommended that prospective students request information from several schools and then compare the programs to select the best automotive high performance schools for how they want to learn.
