SCHOLARSHIPS like grants are financial aid that does not have to be repaid. However unlike grants they are not necessarily based on need. Qualifications may be based on academic performance, area of study, or other qualifications. Because of the diverse nature of scholarship qualifications it can be quite difficult to find the right scholarship. The following are just a few ideas to incorporate in your search for scholarship opportunities.
Company Scholarships: Many companies, as well as labor unions, have programs to help pay the cost of post secondary education for employees, members, or their children. Check with your employers HR department or Union Rep for additional information.
Organization Scholarships: Check foundations, religious organizations, fraternities or sororities, and town or city clubs. Include community organizations and civic groups such as the VFW, YMCA, 4-H Club, FFA, Elks, Rotary Club, Jaycees, and the Boy or Girl Scouts.
Professional Scholarships: Don't overlook aid from organizations connected with your area of study (for example, the American Medical Association or the American Bar Association).
Scholarship Search: Several companies offer scholarship search programs such as Free Scholoarship Search, and if you are having trouble finding money for college you want to visit these sites. Another good site to check out is International Education Financial Aid
