Psychology is the art of study of the way humans and animals interact with one another and respond to their environment; essentially , it is the study of behavior and thoughts behind these and the study of all aspects related to these actions. A cool thing about a psychology major: Analyzing your friends and family. An un cool thing: You almost have to go to graduate school if you want to do advanced work or to teaching. Which is perfectly fine, if you understand and commit to that path from the beginning of your psychology degree program. Don’t expect that four years of college will get you a private practice where people lie on a couch and tell you their troubles for $95/hour or a cush teaching job. You’ll need an extra five to seven years of schooling and a Ph.D. or Doctorate before that will happen. But there are many opportunities for those with bachelor and master degrees in psychology. These psychology related jobs are found in counseling, organizational management, human resources, and with businesses. In today’s dynamic market of business and marketing, all levels of business are analyzing their customer base. They are doing this through advanced studies and market analysis. Those with a background in psychology do well in this type of work and will thrive in the new opportunities. Another new opportunity is Software and web site design, with usability studies. These studies analyze how people use and relate to web sites with respect to colors, wording, and design structure. Each of these psychology schools offer a different type of education experience. The amount of financial aid they can offer to students may vary from student to student. It is strongly advised that prospective students request information from several schools.
