Berks Technical Institute was originally established in 1974 as a technical consulting firm. in 1990, the school has been known as Berks Technical Institute. The campus is located in Wyomissing, PA. Over the years, Berks Technical Institute has expanded its curriculum to include specialized career education in many of the fastest growing fields in the USA Berks Technical Institute offers a variety of degree and diploma programs in the fields of computer programming, electronics technology, networking, graphic design, drafting technology, medical assisting, massage therapy, computer software application, secretarial science, criminal investigation/private investigation, paralegal/legal secretary, and business administration ( or management). Berks Technical Institute is an eligible institution and currently participating in private, state, and federal student loan programs. Berks Technical Institute provides placement assistance to help graduates find suitable positions which best match their experience and capabilities.
Training Programs
Massage Therapy: Students study anatomy and physiology, with clinical and classroom instruction focusing on Swedish Massage, although such disciplines as Sports Massage, Shiatsu, Neuromuscular Therapy and Reflexology will also be introduced. Students will receive training in CPR and First Aid, and in business principles, the client/practitioner relationship, and infection control. The program is designed to meet the standards set by the American Massage Therapy Association.
Medical Assisting: A graduate of this program will be able to assist a physician in various medical settings. Students receive both classroom training and clinical experience in a local physician’s office or other health care facility. Students study basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and medical assistance procedures. Working directly with the physician, graduates will assist with back office procedures, venipuncture, running a 12-lead EKG, and with pharmacology. Graduates will also have basic skills in bookkeeping, billing, typing, and basic math for drug conversions.
Paralegal/Legal Secretary: Students will be familiar with a wide array of substantive law and general legal procedures, and will be able to perform a number of tasks in a legal environment. Graduates will master legal research and writing, standard legal forms, legal pleading drafts and other documents, litigation support, client file management, and other related activities. Graduates will also become proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Windows applications, and the internet. Graduates will be trained to comply with the Legal and Ethical canons regulating the paralegal’s role as an integral member of the legal support team.
