Akron Institute has been educating adult learners since 1970 providing hands-on, job-related skills training. The programs in Allied Health, Information Technology, and Administration have helped graduates of Akron Institute begin rewarding and challenging careers throughout the tri-county area. The campus is located on 1625 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The school offers training in business administration, computer network technology, medical assisting, medical billing and coding. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants as well as a variety of financing options. Graduates are also eligible for job placement services. The Akron Institute incorporate externships into every program, so graduates have "real life" experience when they complete the program. Both degree and diploma programs are available to meet the career objectives of the student. This helps the student better comprehend the career programs and gives them the experience they need to start their career. Business Administration: This business program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry level positions in different business environments. These career opportunities may be in areas such as accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, business administration, sales, marketing, and human resources. Computer Networking: This computer training program prepares students with the necessary academic knowledge and technical competencies for entry-level technical positions in the computer network technology industry. These career opportunities may be in areas such as help desk, network administration, network installation, network administration, network security, and network technical support. Dental Assisting: The dental assistant program at the Akron Institute trains the student to become a productive member of the dental health team. This includes preparing the student for a variety of duties performed by the dental assistant in the dental office, including chair side assisting, laboratory procedures, administrative duties and expanded functions. Training will provide the student with the knowledge and understanding to analyze medical records and assign codes to classify diagnoses and procedures while applying the principles of professional and ethical conduct. The program will prepare the student for an entry-level position as a medical coder in a hospital, clinic or other health care facility. The average length of time for a student taking a full course load is 4 semesters.
