Surgical Technology Schools
March 8, 2008
Surgical Technology Schools train students assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. They are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists and circulating nurses. They are also refereed to as “Scrubs” and “Surgical or Operating Room Technicians.” Training will prepare students to prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes and sterile solutions. They assemble both sterile and non sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly. They will also learn how to transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them up. Surgical Technology School also teach students to observe patients’ vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves. Typically these schools will teach the student certain standard skills including theory and practical application in the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the body; surgical skills as well as laboratory procedures to meet the requirements of the operating room; sterilization and surgical instrument set-ups; identify surgical room equipment and supplies; and prepare and position a patient for surgery. Most schools will have externships as part of the Surgical Technology program, placing students in a ” real life” situation so that they apply what they are learning in the class room. Job placement is commonly available from the surgical technology school fro graduates, with some offering lifetime placement. Financial aid varies from school to school. In many cases students at the schools will receive grants, scholarships, student loans, and possibly work study. To get started, locate several schools in your area, and then fill out the informational request form on the schools web site. It is recommenced that prospective surgical technology students compare information from several schools, so that they can find the schools with the will offer the student the education they want. The type of financial aid may also vary among schools so this might also be a consideration when selecting a surgical technology school.

Information Security Schools
March 8, 2008
Computer/Information Security Schools and Training Programs ready students for careers in the leading edge of software development and network analysis. With the growing threat of cyber crime and publicized break-ins, most companies have initiated programs where they review all software programs prior to use, and constantly check and re-check their security systems. This drive for securing the internet and corporate IT structure has created a tremendous opportunity for those with training in Computer Security. This field includes anti-hacking computer training, computer forensics, and information security. Employment of computer security specialist is expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations through 2012, as organizations continue to adopt and integrate increasingly sophisticated technology. Now these professionals are expected to stop hackers, war drivers, and crackers, and that is just the start. Job growth will continue to be driven by the continued expansion of the computer system design and related services industry, which is projected to remain one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S. economy, despite recent job losses. Job growth will not be as explosive as growth during the previous decade as these jobs are being increasingly outsourced overseas.
